CMS clarifies ICD-10 Guidance

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has revised their FAQs on ICD-10 coding after discussions with the American Medical Association (AMA) staff. The revisions were posted on the CMS website in July. To view the announcement and guidance regarding ICD-10 flexibilities, click here

The AMA is also working with CMS to develop a version of the FAQs that is specifically geared for physicians (the document is aimed at multiple audiences—Medicare contractors, CMS regional offices), and the AMA is working on a teleconference to be held in late August.
