AMCNO Hosts Medical Student Event: Physicians Are Linked with Students (PALS)

Education is a part of being an AMCNO member, so several physicians were pleased to participate in helping second-year students learn more about different specialties and the practice of medicine from a physician’s point of view.

Working with CWRU School of Medicine student representatives, the AMCNO hosted a speed networking event at the school on Thursday, Sept. 24. Physicians from several different specialties—such as OB/GYN, Gastroenterology and Anesthesiology—were asked to speak with the students in a setting similar to speed dating. Physicians sat at each table and 2-3 students were seated with them. The groups had a chance to ask questions and talk about the physician’s field for 8 minutes. Once the time was up, the groups of students would shift to the next physician’s table, and so on, until all students had a chance to talk with each physician.

The event was well-received by the physicians in attendance and the medical students. All participants agreed that it was time well spent and that the AMCNO should continue the program next year. If you would be interested in participating in this event, or others that the AMCNO sponsors, contact the AMCNO offices at 216-520-1000.
