There’s Still Time to Register for the AMCNO/CMBA Medical Legal Summit – Sign Up Today

The 2016 Medical/Legal Summit will be held March 11-12 at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) Conference Center. This year’s event is co-sponsored by the CMBA, Academy of Medicine Education Foundation, and the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio (AMCNO).

Friday, March 11, at 4:45 pm - Keynote speaker, Margaret (Peggy) S. O’Kane

Peggy O’Kane is Founding and Current President of the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Her presentation, “Welcome to Health Care in 21st Century America,” will cover several topics, including the Affordable Care Act, managed care for vulnerable populations, and consumer engagement.

Saturday, March 12, will feature two plenary sessions:

  • 8:15 am - Telemedicine:  Achieving High-Quality Innovative Healthcare Delivery
  • 9:15 am - End of Life Issues

Following the plenary sessions there will be two breakout sessions with the following topics:

  • Session 1 - Practicing in an “Opioid Epidemic” – Best Practices, New Regulations and Other Developments or HIPAA Update and Implications of the Use of Electronic Medical Records
  • Session 2 – Medical Malpractice: The Effects of Tort Reform, Damage Caps and the Affordable Care Act or Ohio Medical Board Round Up: One Bite, Mandatory Reporting and Other Issues

This summit is designed to bring together doctors, lawyers, healthcare professionals and others who work in allied professions in Northeast Ohio for education, lively discussion and opportunities to socialize. The co-chairs for the event are AMCNO President Matthew Levy, MD, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, and David Valent, Esq., Associate Counsel, Cleveland Clinic, Law Department.

CME and CRME credits will be available to physicians attending specific portions of the program.
