AMEF Swing for Students Golf Outing

The Academy of Medicine Education Foundation (AMEF), the charitable component of the AMCNO, is hosting the Swing for Students Golf Outing on Monday, Aug. 9, at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon. Proceeds from the event help fund educational programs, including medical student scholarships. Several options are available to show your support this year, including a new lower registration fee for a foursome. Get your team together and sign up for a fun day on the course! The registration deadline is August 1.

Gov. DeWine Signs Bill Prohibiting Schools from Mandating COVID-19 Vaccination

Governor Mike DeWine has signed a bill into law that prohibits public K-12 schools, colleges, and universities from requiring people to get a vaccine if that vaccine does not have full approval by the Food and Drug Administration. The COVID-19 vaccine has been FDA approved through Emergency Use Authorization.

Gov. DeWine Vetoes Fireworks Bill

Governor Mike DeWine vetoed legislation (SB 113) that would have legalized the use of fireworks for 24 hours a day around 25 separate holidays throughout the year, with only minimal safety restrictions in place. Proponents and opponents (including the AMCNO) weighed in on the decision.
