DEA Reduces Amount of Opioid Controlled Substances to be Manufactured in 2017

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has announced it will reduce the amount of almost every Schedule II opiate and opioid medication that may be manufactured in the country in 2017 by 25% or more, according to a Final Order being published in the Federal Register.

A handful of medications were reduced by more than 25%, such as hydrocodone, which will be 66% of last year’s level. Reductions will also include oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, hydromorphone, morphine, and other such medications.
