AMCNO Hosts Annual Business of Medicine Seminar

The Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio (AMCNO) hosted its annual “Understanding the Legal and Financial Aspects of Practicing Medicine” seminar on Oct. 26 at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.   The event was well-attended versus previous years and two individuals signed up for AMCNO membership following the seminar.

Similar to last year, we featured different topics that were covered by representatives from four companies:

  • Estate Planning for Young Physicians – Ellen Meehan, Squire Patton Boggs LLP
  • Legal and Other Issues for New Physicians Joining a Practice – Isabelle Bibet-Kalinyak, McDonald Hopkins LLC
  • Benefits Available to Physicians – Jeremy DiTullio, Sagemark Consulting/Lincoln Financial Advisors
  • Business and Tax Aspects of a Medical Practice – Cindy Kula, CPA, and Dean Lisowski, CPA, Walthall LLP

From the feedback we received from evaluation forms, the majority of participants rated the speakers as “excellent,” and the few remaining rated them as “good.” Also, when asked “what issues regarding the practice of medicine are of concern to you at this time,” many individuals said that their concerns were covered during the seminar.

The presenters provided positive feedback about the seminar as well, saying that they thought things went well, the event was well-attended and participants asked great questions. It is important to note that the presenters do not pressure the attendees to utilize their services – these presentations are meant to be informative and of use to the attendees as they end their training and move into the practice of medicine.  The AMCNO would like to thank the presenters for providing this wealth of information to our attendees and we look forward to next year.
