AMEF Partners with MetroHealth to Sponsor SCOPE of Pain Training

The Academy of Medicine Education Foundation (AMEF) is partnering with MetroHealth Medical Center to offer Safe and Competent Opioid Prescribing Education (SCOPE) of Pain training, which is being provided by Boston University School of Medicine. It will be held Friday, June 2, from noon to 4:30 pm, at the Crowne Plaza Cleveland South in Independence.

The program is designed to help physicians safely and effectively manage patients with chronic pain, when appropriate, with opioid analgesics. During the meeting, essential clinical content on opioid prescribing will be discussed as well as state-specific information, including a policy and resource panel with representatives from state and local agencies.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has mandated manufacturers of extended-release/long-acting (ER/LA) opioid analgesics to make available comprehensive prescriber education in the safe use of these medications. The SCOPE of Pain training is based on the FDA curriculum known as the Blueprint for Prescriber Education for ER/LA Opioid Analgesics. This program covers all aspects of that blueprint and more to provide a comprehensive educational program.

This event is being offered free-of-charge and is open to physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists. Continuing medical education will be available.
