AMEF to Sponsor Crain’s Health Care Forum on June 21

The Academy of Medicine Education Foundation (AMEF) is a supporting sponsor of the Crain’s Health Care Forum that will be held Wednesday, June 21, from 8 am until 1:30 pm, on the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) campus, at The NEOMED Education and Wellness (NEW) Center.

During this event, the current state of health care and its future outlook will be assessed, and presenters will take a deep dive into the social, economic and business implications of some of the top threats to our region’s health.

The keynote healthcare executive panel will feature:

  • Dr. Bernard Boulanger, Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, MetroHealth
  • William Considine, CEO and President, Akron Children's Hospital
  • Dr. Brian Donley, Chief of Staff and Chief of Clinical Operations, Cleveland Clinic
  • Dr. Dan Simon, President, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center
  • Tom Strauss, President and CEO, Sisters of Charity Health System

Four interactive discussions will focus on key issues facing the health of Northeast Ohioans: aging population, obesity, opioid/drug abuse, and mental health. Each topic will be presented by an expert who will discuss the issue’s current status and its impact. Case study presentations will follow, during which attendees will have the opportunity to learn about some of the innovative solutions that are taking place in our region. Then, table discussions will be held, and sample input will be collected from each table and shared with the audience.

At lunch, a medical student and an established physician will discuss the changing healthcare sector, its challenges and opportunities.
