Congressman Delays Vote on Legislation to Repeal the ACA Until After July 4 Recess

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has announced that he will delay a vote on his legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) until after the Senate’s weeklong July 4 recess. The delay was announced after five Senate Republicans said they could not support a move to even bring up the bill this week in the wake of a new budget analysis. Lawmakers, however, will be exposed to a barrage of lobbying as they face their constituents over the holiday, according to a report in The Washington Post.

Sen. McConnell said he hopes to “provide more time to try to convince reluctant GOP senators to vote for the measure.”
