MetroHealth Medical Center has a new walk-in Motivation & Engagement Clinic that's available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for patients with Opioid Use Disorder. Here, these patients can access low threshold care, such as medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and peer support services, without a referral.

AMA Summarizes No Surprises Act Provisions

The American Medical Association (AMA) created a summary of the recent Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing certain provisions of the No Surprises Act. The IFR becomes effective on Sept. 13, 2021. Comments are being requested, and the AMA will provide detailed ones following a full analysis prior to the September 7 comment period deadline.

Ohio Will Receive Up To $1B in Opioid Settlement

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost recently announced that major drug companies have agreed to pay states $26 billion in a settlement over the opioid epidemic; Ohio will receive up to $1 billion. The distributors and manufacturer tied to the nationwide agreement are also being required to take steps to prevent a similar crisis from happening again.
