Unsafe Compounding Practices Leads to Board of Pharmacy Suspending Medina Pharmacy’s License

The Ohio Board of Pharmacy (BOP) announced the immediate suspension of the Clinical Apothecaries’ pharmacy license. The pharmacy, located in Medina, was engaging in compounding practices that pose immediate and serious harm to the public.

Patients are being encouraged to immediately discontinue the use of all medications dispensed from the pharmacy. To confirm the source of the drug, patients should refer to the medication’s labeling. The BOP is also encouraging patients to contact their physician, healthcare provider or veterinarian to obtain new prescriptions. In addition, the BOP is reviewing records to directly contact potentially affected patients.
