The AMCNO has obtained CME accreditation for the program from St. Vincent Charity Hospital, and the program is also approved by University Hospitals (UH) for 5 hours of live Clinical Risk Management Education (CRME) credit for those physicians participating in the UH-Sponsored Physician Program. 

The Health Care Law Update takes place Friday, April 17, from noon til 4:15 pm. Topics include: Federal and State Update, Medical Malpractice Trends, Current Legal Review of Behavioral Health Issues, and Criminal Investigations in Health Care. A networking reception will follow from 4:15 pm til 5:15 pm.

The keynote speaker, Governor Michael Leavitt, will then present from 5:15 pm til 6:45 pm. He is the founder and chairman of Leavitt Partners, a healthcare intelligence firm dedicated to helping clients navigate the future of health care. Leavitt previously served as Secretary of Health and Human Services and Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in the Cabinet of President George W. Bush. Leavitt also served as a three-time elected governor of Utah. He will address “Health Care Reform 2.0: Navigating Uncertainty and Anticipating what’s Next” in his keynote address. 

The sessions on Saturday, April 18, will begin at 8 am and cover several topics of importance to physicians and their practice, including telemedicine, physician extenders, end-of-life issues, medical marijuana, Affordable Care Act, and opioids and pain medicine.
