		CMS Increases Payment Amounts for Medicare Beneficiaries' At-Home COVID-19 Vaccinations The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced an additional payment amount for administering in-home COVID-19 vaccinations to increase efforts to better serve the 1.6 million adults age 65 or older who have difficulty leaving their home to get vaccinated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also created guidance on how to properly deliver vaccinations to these beneficiaries. Read More

		Tell Legislators to Stop Dangerous All-Encompassing Anti-Vaccine Legislation A gravely concerning bill pertaining to vaccinations is currently making its way through the Ohio Legislature. HB 248-11 is being framed as a bill to stop the COVID-19 vaccines from becoming mandatory, but it would actually apply to ALL immunizations, including childhood vaccines, according to the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA). 		SMBO Announces Requirement on the Duty to Report Misconduct The State Medical Board of Ohio (SMBO) has announced a new continuing medical education (CME) requirement on the duty to report. Effective May 31, 2021, prior to renewal, MDs and DOs will be required to complete 1 hour of CME on the topic of a licensee’s duty to report misconduct under section 4731.224 of the Revised Code. The enforcement of this requirement will commence with renewal applications submitted on or after July 1, 2021. Read More
		Cuyahoga County Diversion Center is Open The Cuyahoga County Diversion Center, a first-of-its-kind facility, opened its doors on May 3. Overseen by the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County, and working in conjunction with law enforcement, this unique center allows individuals involved in a low-level offense who are exhibiting signs and symptoms of mental illness and or/addiction to receive the help they need in a treatment environment, instead of being sent to the county jail. 		AMA Releases Strategic Plan on Dismantling Structural Racism in Medicine In May, the American Medical Association (AMA) released a plan designed to dismantle structural racism inside its own ranks and within the United States medical establishment. The plan has been in the works for more than a year, but the group’s leaders said health inequities highlighted by the pandemic, ongoing police brutality and recent race-based crimes have given the effort a sense of urgency.
